This year for the holiday season I am donating a portion of all sales to the Alexandria House here in Los Angeles.

I am so grateful for each and every one of you for your support through the years. To say thank you through Monday night at midnight you can shop online and save 20% and help spread a little more love and kindness in to the world through this charity that does amazing work.

Etsy and Amazon are already marked down to the sale price. If you shop on my site just use the code "gratitude" at checkout for the sale price.

Spreading a little extra love in 2017 through giving back

Monday, February 6

It's so easy to feel like making a difference is just out of our hands. To get overwhelmed by all the negativity and atrocities that are hurled at us through the news and social media. But I can't just give up because at my core I am an optimist. I was taught from a young age to help those in need as much as I can. For me that meant donating new and used toys to kids less fortunate than me, donating my time at soup kitchens, in after school mentoring programs, and with the elderly. As I've gotten older I have found less time to volunteer because I get caught up in everyday life. But I've always made an effort around the holidays but this year I want to keep that feeling of giving going all year round. So I'm stepping up to spread more love, kindness and protection of rights for all in 2017.

It started with my second year of participating in the #goodkarmasale and donating a portion of all of holiday sales to charity. But this year I was compelled to donate to more than one charity and the donations have continued in to the new year.

I am so lucky to be able to run my own business here in LA, so first I donated to the Downtown Women's Center thanks to your generous support of my jewelry.

Since November I've also donated to the Standing Rock water protectors, Together Rising (for their rescue work in Syria), the ACLU and Planned Parenthood.

There are so many amazing charities out there fighting so hard to save our planet and the people all over the world with so much less than most of us. If you have one you love that you think I should donate to next please send me a message, I would love to hear.

I'm also committing to donating actual time and energy in person to more volunteer work again. I would love to hear from you if you are doing the same and hear your experience.

On the jewelry side I do have lots of new jewelry up in both my Etsy and Amazon shops. If you are looking for a gift for yourself or someone else stop by and you can be sure that a portion of all jewelry sold this year will be donated to a few different charities. For this quarter I'm planning to donate to The Good Shepherd Shelter here in Los Angeles.

Let's all work on spreading more kindness around our everyday lives in 2017. We might all disagree on politics, religion and other things, but I think we can all agree to be a little kinder to each other and this planet. I sure hope so.
Love,
Amanda

Making the new Darya Collection

Friday, August 5

The new Darya collection is all about getting back to what inspires and grounds me in my craft. For my senior show more than 10 year ago I built a table that held water and sand and displayed my designs that were inspired by the ocean. On a road trip last summer up to Morro Bay I wandered in to a shell shop and immediately knew that I needed to revisit the casting from life thread that got me so excited about doing my own casting back in college.

I had been flipping through Ernst Haeckel's Art Forms in Nature book over and over and just knew I wanted to create my own ocean inspired line again.

I'm planning to revive a few of my old designs to compliment the new pieces and I'll be adding rings and bracelets in over the next few months.

The ocean has always been a source of inspiration for me and by casting these pieces in silver I hope that when you wear them them will give you the sense of calm and happiness that the sun, sand and ocean bring to me.

These pictures show a little of the process that went in to creating the new designs. I would love to know what you think of the new work.

Birthstone jewelry: Aquamarine

Tuesday, March 10

Aquamarine has always been one of my favorite stones to work with because of its subtle beauty. It's a perfect stone for spring and is also the birthstone for March. Aquamarine is a stone for courage and inner peace it is also said to be attuned to the sea and helps protect travelers and sailors while at sea.

#ShopHandmade never looked so pretty

Monday, December 8

Saturday I popped up for our Annual Holiday Trunk Show in Culver City with some of my favorite Los Angeles designers. I did snap a few pictures of all the gorgeous pieces before everyone arrived, but had such a great turnout that I didn't have a chance to take any more pictures! Thank you so much to everyone who came out and shopped with us, we all felt so much love and support for our work. I had so much fun helping everyone pick out the perfect gift for their friends and family, and of course a few for themselves.

Here are some pictures from the event. Just click on the links to see more of everyone's amazing work.
Morgan Patricia Designs- I didn't get a chance to take a picture of her nautical and nature inspired jewelry so I grabbed this picture from her Facebook. She has these new elements charms that are calling my name.

Androgyny Designs- her fractured collection is gorgeous! I picked out a new ear cuff for myself.
I also grabbed this picture off her site because I didn't get one.

My display was filled with lots of new stacking rings and statement rings that were a hit at the show.

Corinne Simon's jewelry was so beautiful. I'm personally coveting an opal bracelet and the cherry blossom stud earring from her collection.

Communion by Joy Smith's jewelry just feels like magic and happiness to me. Her enlightened warrior ring is my current favorite.

Life Aromatherapy had all her amazing smelling products including chakra sprays, perfumes, candles, lotions and oils.
I have a growing collection of her chakra sprays

Madeline Chadwick's bags are always a hit at the show and she had lots of gorgeous new colors and styles.

Every time I do a show with these ladies I find new things to love, so if you are still doing some of your Christmas shopping definitely check out their shops and mine and find something special for everyone on your list.

Trunk Show at On A Mission in Claremont this Saturday!

Tuesday, November 4

One of my wonderful reps, Shirley DeMarco is bringing my line along for a trunk at On A Mission this Saturday in Claremont. If you are in the area stop by and say hello and maybe even get some early holiday shopping done. I know Halloween just happened and it's only November 4th, so for lots of you it's too early to start thinking about doing your holiday shopping. I'm personally such a dork about Christmas that I've already started shopping, planning decorations, buying holiday scented candles, and scoping out DIY gifts to make this year. I'll be pinning lots of these DIY ideas, decorations, and wrapping ideas on my holidays yes! Pinterest board if you want to follow along with my holiday obsession.

West Elm Summer Soiree Recap

Sunday, June 29

I had such a lovely time at a pop up event with fantastic local designers at West Elm Santa Monica this past Friday. I'm already looking forward to planning another event with their staff for late summer/early fall. The layout of the store was absolutely beautiful and it worked so perfectly to set up on this gorgeous console table.

Clark & Madison  stood out as one of my favorites from the event. Their bags are handcrafted here in Los Angeles and absolutely gorgeous.

Gavin Luxe & Company was also there with their candles that smelled absolutely amazing. I couldn't decide on a scent at the event but since it's summer I think the Sunny + Beach sounds perfect.

Thank you so much to the entire staff of West Elm in Santa Monica for organizing this wonderful event, I had a blast and am already looking forward to the next one.

How's 2014 shaking out so far?

Thursday, January 30

I'd be lying if I said 2014 was off to a smooth start for me. I find myself daydreaming about trips to Thailand, New Zealand, Hawaii, Bali and Japan among other fantastic places. I really only took 2 days off after my busiest holiday season yet.  Now I'm in full swing trying to launch new designs and get samples to my sales rep for the California Gift Show that starts tomorrow. When I found myself dropping off samples close to midnight this week, I knew I definitely did not have a handle on things. So far this month I caught a nasty cold, had my bike stolen (it was locked securely with a ulock in broad daylight) while I was downtown picking up supplies, fallen behind on new sample deadlines and more. But I am not superwoman and I don't have clones to pick up the slack.

The silver lining for all the craziness January has thrown at me is that it inspired me to write down actual goals for the year and make a bucket list! Actually traveling to some of the places I daydream about and have a Pinterest board devoted to is top on the list. I started using mint.com and set a travel goal for real this year. I haven't decided if it will be Thailand or Hawaii yet but either way I'm going.

I am planning for a 2014 filled with at least one great travel adventure, more trips back to the East coast to visit my family, lots of yoga with good friends, bike rides, good books, learning to cook more, hikes, and of course growing Amanda K Lockrow. So take that January! You may have kicked my butt, but I am not giving up.

What about you? How did January go for you? Did you make any goals for 2014? Leave a comment and let me know.
